Hidden behind a heavy wooden door in Dordrecht's city center lies a place that smells of the past and tastes of the future.
Food Design Playground is located in a monumental building where rococo ceilings whisper and the basement buzzes with ideas. A home for food design with a varied program. Expect pop-up dinners, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and tastings. And four unique bean festivals throughout the year!

Been there, done that - BEANS and BLOOM
Beans, but with a twist. Three days of food, art, and imagination. Beans & Bloom lets you see, touch, and experience beans like never before. – Friday: Lunch experience, Bean Archives: The Exchange – Saturday: Lunch experience and wine tasting, Hummus Academy – Sunday: Festival day! – Or: go all in and enjoy the whole weekend

Olive Oil Stories | Communal Table | Culinary Lab
This event invites you to explore an essential culinary ingredient through food science and culinary intuition. This event is part inspiration session, part hands-on cooking workshop. Designed by Terri Salminen, a professional chef, storyteller, and teacher, the day is centered on the exploration of taste.

Bean Festival!
Four times a year, we organize a small-scale bean festival that will delight your senses and stimulate your mind. Workshops, lectures, tastings, parties, and experiments. Tickets include lunch.

who is behind it?
Designer, teacher, food philosopher and playful rebel. For over 26 years she has been working at the intersection of food, design and human emotion. Not as a chef, but as a designer—for whom food is not just nourishment, but a carrier of meaning. Something that connects, reminds, questions, heals and transforms. Studio Marije Vogelzang is located inside Food Design Playground.
The place
Food Design Playground is not your average restaurant. You can't just walk in for lunch. We work on an event basis—performances, dinners, workshops, and other occasions when the doors are wide open. And good to know: you don't have to be a designer to feel at home here. In fact, "ordinary" people with curiosity and a taste for good food are more than welcome. The various spaces are available for rent for creative gatherings, meetings, dinners, lectures, or inspiration sessions. With or without catering, always with character. You can book your own special lunch or dinner for groups of 10 or more.
